Background and Focus

Scinta South Africa (Proprietary) Limited commenced business in September 2008 and is chaired by Dr Humphrey Mathe.  It is a 51% black-owned business that is focused on developing a portfolio of coal projects in Southern Africa. Included in the 51% black-owned shareholding are shareholders such that Scinta is 18.23% held by black women (including broad-based groups), which shareholders include foundations for the development of black youth and women. 

Scinta focuses on the acquisition and development of coal resources, with the aim of being a reliable and cost effective supplier of coal.  Scinta’s strategy is to own or co-own coal assets and aims to identify economically viable prospects, ranging from greenfield exploration projects to strategic existing coal operations.

The combination of the strong technical expertise of its management, financial clout and expertise that the Bravura group brings as well as its strong empowerment partners, positions Scinta well for the future.
