Group Structure & BEE

South African Strategy

As a mining company operating in South Africa, it is imperative to ensure that Scinta maintains appropriate and sustainable Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) structures. In the mining sector this entails positioning the company as 51% black-owned. Black ownership is required in South Africa for a number of reasons, including in respect of the requirements of (i) the Mining Charter, and (ii) significant coal purchasers, such as Eskom (South Africa’s electricity parastatal).

Scinta as an Investment Partner

The broad-based BEE positioning of the group positions Scinta as an ideal investor/partner for other mining houses seeking to either divest of non-core assets or to joint venture with suitable BEE companies.  This strategic position is further complemented by the know-how and experience, in respect of both mining, corporate management and international finance, of Scinta’s senior management.

Scinta’s BEE Shareholders

Scinta South Africa is 51% black empowered. Our empowerment partners consist of Dr Humphrey Mathe, Zungu Investments Company (Zico) and Partnership Investments.
